I've decided since I'm resurrecting my blog here at Xanga, the blog that has always held my heart, that its time as well to resurrect my old feature, Kristi's Krush of the Week.
KRISTI'S KRUSH OF THE WEEK
Richard Armitage / actor
...yes, Richard Armitage. Indeed, it's bound to become the love of a life time (much like my love for, Hugh). He's simply amazing. He's rather obscure - at least this side of the pond, not so much anymore in Britain...these photos are courtesy of Red Magazine's February 2008 issue. Images taking up delicious space on my computer's hard drive for a year now.
This gorgeous specimen of man first came to my attention when I decided to start watching BBC's Robin Hood on BBC America, in which he plays the sexy and sadistic (but I know there's a heart in there!) Sir Guy of Gisborne. He became the sole reason why I watch the show. I think the show is good, but I'm so blinded by his beauty and dulcet tones that I'm not sure what's going on in the story line. The most important thing is that he's on screen.
Since discovering him on Robin Hood, I've been on an odyssey to revisit all his work. My new favourite film is the BBC's 2004 adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North & South. How on earth this brilliant and beautiful film slipped beneath my radar, I will never know, because it's right up there and just as brilliant as the BBC's 1995 adaption of Pride and Prejudice and the BBC's 2006 adaptation of Jane Eyre. The Beeb just does brilliant work, period.
Anywho, enough rattling on and gushing about all those wonderful period dramas, behold the picspam filled with Richard Armitage-yumminess:
A loverly character profile of the wicked (but I could convert him!) Sir Guy of Gisborne:
A loverly tribute video by some fan for Sir Guy of Gisborne:
...and last but not least, just for kicks, and because bedtime is only a couple hours away and I need a couple good bedtime stories...
(again, more programming brilliance from the BBC - for their children's station, Cbeebies)
I heart you BBC - getting your dreamiest of celebrities to read kids their bedtime stories? Brilliance. Good for the kids, good for the Moms. Eat your heart out, Reading Rainbow! And please Reading Rainbow? Come back, you were awesome!
There. Now that I'm temporarily done gushing over Richard Armitage, I am off to do the laundry. But check him out! He's a greatly gifted actor and deserving of notice and all the awards and accolades out there, and then some. He's bound for international stardom!
p.s. Some of you might recognize this post, I had it on my Myspace a while back, when I had fled Xanga ever so briefly. I was aghast I didn't double-post it here, which, in the past I was doing but somehow lapsed on this one.
Welcome back, stumbled across you from a comment on some featured page. I saw the name and thought how clever. Have a great day.
Oh so very worth your Krush of the Week.
And yes, welcome back. :)
never heard of him, but i feel like i've known him all my life, now.
bring back Reading Rainbow, indeed.
Indeed he is eye candy. Speaking of Hugh he looks just like him! Wasn't he in Dr. Who as well, or is that merely a wannabe lookalike?
@CoconutPalapa - He wasn't in Doctor Who, though I was HOPING he'd be cast as the 11th Doctor! Perhaps he's a bit too dashing. He does play Sir Guy of Gisborne in BBC's Robin Hood and now plays Lucas North in "Spooks" (or "MI5" as its known in the US).
He does look just like Hugh! That's probably why I think he's so gorgeous. They could convincingly play brothers if they were cast in a film together!
